No city is as closely associated with the grain elevator as Buffalo, NY. The large, silo-like structures were invented in Buffalo in the 1840s, and they have long been symbolic of the city's economic rise and fall. Last week, Buffalo unveiled a new plan to reuse several of the old structures as canvases in a large public art exhibition. Under the plan, the long-vacant grain elevators will be featured in an elaborate light show that will include 3D video projection, fire and pyrotechnics.
