The landscape acts as a set for hundreds of imagined stories that could be told from within it.
Capturing the layered architecture reminiscent of shantytowns built into many cities across Latin America, Serrano uses a vibrant combination of cardboard and photography to create this huge sculptural collage. The wave of multicolored box houses is built up into a cone-like point, structured in a scattered and unregulated way. This very landscape acts as a set for hundreds of imagined stories that could be told from within it.
A graduate from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, Serrano’s website states that her work is specifically interested in “the customs and beliefs, as well as the architecture, fashion, and informal economies present within this segment of society.”
