The perforated aluminum ensures plenty of daylight penetrates the interior

The perforated aluminum rectilinear blocks are staggered not only to create a distinct visual identity, but also to promote optimum daylighting and greater energy efficiency. This combined with new glass inserts that allow more sunlight to penetrate the original structure and the cooling rooftop garden are part of the project’s sustainable renovation.

With the stacked additions, the center will grow to 320,000 square feet of administrative, exhibition, research, and cafeteria space that will offer a variety of cultural activities to the community. A recent EUR 27m donation from Denmark’s A.P. Møller and Chastine Mc-Kinney Møller Foundation has brought the project one step closer to completion.
