SOA Architects’ Prefab Les Coccinelles Nursery is Wrapped in Delicate Sunlight-Diffusing Panels

The Saint-Gratien nursery is separated into three different sections that each correspond to a different age group. Its prefabricated metal shell creates a materially-efficient structure that is also very lightweight. While playful from both interior and exterior vantage points, the wooden facade requires low maintenance and allows the building to perform well in terms of its energy consumption .
The double skin filters excess solar gain in summer, ensuring that the children remain comfortable, and sleeping spaces were placed in the northern section of the nursery to maintain peace and quiet. Lastly, the infants and staff have quarters on the first and second floor of the SE section, which has access to a covered terrace in the glazed sunroom. Looks like a great way to start a life.
