Gallery: China Announces Plans to Export Greenhouse Gases to Terraform ...

As an extension of China’s $16 billion plan to combat air pollution in its cities, today the China National Space Administration (CNSA) announced an ambitious plan to export the nation’s emissions to Mars. China is currently the world’s largest producer of greenhouse gases – its annual emissions total 8.9 billion tons. The unprecedented plan would greatly reduce emissions on Earth while warming the climate on Mars, causing the planet’s polar ice caps to melt and eventually creating an atmosphere capable of sustaining life.

I hope it starts another “space race” and we one up them by sending bankers and lawyers to mars.

China is a very big Joke! A very stupid country indeed. They are willing to spend billions of dollars to transfer greenhouse gasses to Mars instead of spend only millions to abolish its coal power plant and use renewable energy which is far cheaper, pathetic country! no wonder why its citizen acts like gangsters.

“starting in 2015, industrial greenhouse gases will be collected and exported to Mars, where they could actually do good by helping to terraform the planet.”

    …. ya… fucking… right.

Yup a great idea. Shouldn’t cost more than several trillion dollars for the first junk ship to get there(first you’d need the currently lacking technology). Of course it would probably be cheaper to create environmentally recyclable products and power sources and maybe work on reforestation of the land and cleanup of the water sources from agricultural and other wastes. It would be hone helluva lot cheaper and everyone would benefit.

Perhaps they should also look to utilise some of North Korean Missile and Nuclear technologies in the project?

This is an awful idea. As if we haven’t already negatively altered the environment on our own planet which we are ALL facing the consequences of.. Now we’re trying to do it on another?!? We need to stop putting band aids on all of our environmental problems and get to the core of the issues. This is getting ridiculous
