David Ho from
edg Creatives turned to Cinderella for a way to sass up the firm's offices in China. Inspired by the fairytale horse carriage made from a pumpkin that carried the belle to the ball, the pumpkin room is made from polycarbonate panels wrapped around a
cylindrical structure. The fantastical room is designed to give employees a creative space in which to hatch awesome brainstorming sessions.
The award-winning pumpkin room comes in two different varieties: either a complete mini-room that can be installed in just about any office, or partitions comprised of just two of the polycarbonate panels wrapped around steel. The entire structure is illuminated from the inside – creating a glowing lightbox effect.
Completely modular and easy to transport, this particular pumpkin room was installed on the first floor of edg Creatives’ offices in Beijing, China. A minimalist intervention that completely (but not magically) transforms the ambience of the entire office space, the pumpkin room has understandably received a variety of innovation awards.
