Gallery: City of Hamburg Sues Contractor of Herzon & de Meuron’s Elbphi...

The City of Hamburg is suing the contractor of Herzog & de Meuron's Elbphilarmonie concert hall as a result of serious delays and cost extensions. The striking mixed-use facility commissioned in 2007 should have been completed in 2010 but it already seems as though the extended 2014 completion date is a distant dream. The city is suing HochTief for €40 million based on their discontinuation of four aspects of what is now a €600 million project. The contractor claims that it has stopped work as a result of miscalculations on the architects' part.
