60s-era beach chairs had a fabulous look to them, although their brightly colored strips of weather-resist fabric perhaps held more visual charm than comfort — which is what makes these recycled beach chair Suzie” lanterns from French design company Colonel so fantastic. Colonel rescues the retro material and brings it into the home, binding the stripes of beach chair fabric around a metal frame before carefully hand-stitching them into place.

Founders Isabelle Gilles and Yann Poncelet show their love for bold geometric patterns and the bygone styles of vintage leisure gear throughout their collections, but their repurposed beach chair lamps are among their most fun and eco-friendly items. Available as either suspended or floor lighting, the lamps can be purchased via <a href=""Colonel's website.
