This Monday the 29th will mark the 16th edition of the Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP) and the 6th Conference of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (CMP). Kicking off in Cancun, Mexico, COP16 and CMP6 will provide a place for global minds to meet and address all things environmental. The meeting, which will run until December 10th, calls representatives from across the globe to discuss and assess progress in dealing with climate change, as well as the future commitments for industrialized countries under the Kyoto Protocol. This year one of our writers, Moe Beitiks, will be heading south of the border and reporting on all the most pertinent developments and discussions at COP16, so keep your ears and eyes open as this global conference unfolds.

the “meeting” runs till december 10th? sign me up, winter break in cancun! how much carbon are they wasting flying out there? all this effort just to funnel money to a few cooperate entities that are the “official” carbon sequesterers, which are known to be fraudulent! carbon dioxide is good for plants people! and it makes up only 0.034% of the atmosphere! use some common sense.. meanwhile habitat is being destroyed, waters are being polluted, and species are being lost. it’s a freaking travesty. not to mention that even if it was all true any human effort would be pointless, and this climate change nonsense hurts developing economies the most, keeping them poor and dependent. anybody concerned about the environment should seriously consider how to best utilize their efforts.. don’t use harmful chemicals, don’t buy hardwood furniture, etc.. hell, even putin is trying to save the tigers! anyway, sorry for the angry rant, I love the site, very creative..
