If you find the $250,000 tag price for a Virgin Galactic seat a bit too steep, there are other ways to reach the final frontier. With Nooka's futuristic Cosmic Messenger you can record your own private message, send it into space and watch the recording travel into the future, turning you into the next best thing to a real space explorer.
This “message in a bottle” device, created by designers Luca Nichetto and Lera Moiseeva for New York fashion design company Nooka, allows users to send their voice into space and watch it travel through the eye of the camera. The elegantly shaped Cosmic Messenger reflects Nooka’s design philosophy of optimistic technofuturism and modern design.
The device has speakers that play audio recordings that a person wants to be sent. The entire voyage is recorded by a 360-degree camera which sends a video signal to Earth and gives feedback to the user. The design was displayed at Nooka’s ‘Zonal – extending the body and mind’ exhibition at the 2014 Wanted Design Show in New York City, and was curated by Matthew Waldman of NOOKA and Marc Thorpe of Marc Thorpe Design.
