Humannature: Craig Walsh’s Video Projections Transform Trees into Spooky Glowing Faces

Australia-based artist Craig Walsh has been projecting human faces onto trees across the globe, from Havana to Japan’s Fuji Rock, London’s Hyde Park , Adelaide and Singapore, to name a few. Projecting a flat image on a living voluminous tree adds a new dimension to his imagery. A site-specific project, this great moving image installation pays homage to humans and nature at the same time.
Made by projecting computer-manipulated portraits or pre-recorded videos, the faces are perceived like giant holograms. But sometimes the videos are live, allowing people to talk to the faces, or trees! (see the video above). Creating little impact on the environment but a long-lasting impression on the audience, Hummanature make trees talk.
