Kamvari’s plan is elevated 13 feet above the landscape, creating a plaza and gathering space for students below. The area beneath the volume can also act as an all-weather outdoor classroom [5]. The grounds are divided into educational and recreational areas, including a learning garden, a playground, a pond, and a series of mathematical puzzles to challenge the students while they are at play.

The floating rectangular volume also creates an internal enclosure that serves as a safe and secure haven for students and teachers. Inside, the school [6]’s common areas provide space for socializing, programming, play and workshops. The halls also feature lounge areas with furniture, climbing walls, and other multi-use features that welcome students.

The curvilinear walls create a sleek and futuristic space for children to learn, while giving teachers visibility from one floor to the next to ensure safety. The louvers and skylights [8] all daylight to illuminate classrooms and common areas without electricity. Kamvari Architects’ Crete Bioclimatic School is futuristic haven for progressive learning [9].
