Crystal Palace: Slovenia’s Tallest Green-Roofed Skyscraper Features Sharp Energy Solutions

This skyscraper has a whopping 2500 square meters of green landscaping on its roof [2], as well as enough solar panels on the southern end to produce 82kWh of renewable energy. Most of the offices and shops have been placed on the northern end of the building to keep air-conditioning use to a minimum, while additional cooling is achieved with an innovative system that uses electricity derived from hydropower [3] overnight, when its cheaper, to create ice in special containers that then cools off hot air the following day. Albeit not the greatest departure from the status quo, it’s great to see Slovenia taking such measurable steps away from fossil fuels!
