Yawkey Center for Cancer Care Uses Sustainable Design to Create a Calm Healing Environment

by , 10/07/11

Imagine walking into a light-filled atrium, meeting with your care team in a spacious consultation room, and finding a peaceful moment in a healing garden. This is what a visit to Dana-Farber is like with the new, state-of-the-art Yawkey Center for Cancer Care, opened earlier this year. Designed with the advice of patients, families, and staff, the Yawkey Center creates compassionate, family-centered, innovative care environment that fosters healing. The new building rises 14 stories and hosts 275,000 square feet of clinical space, as well as seven underground levels for parking. The green building has been designed, constructed, and operates in an environmentally and socially responsible way.
