High temperatures have left large parts of the US sweltering in recent days, and today those temperatures are predicted to reach “dangerous” heights. Temperatures broke 100 degrees at JFK airport yesterday, while the heat index ranged from 105-115 degrees in some areas. Today’s hot weather is expected to be broken by heavy storms, golf-sized hail and possibly tornadoes in some areas. But the extremity of the weather is not even the strangest part—meteorologists are taking particular note of the fact that the system is moving “backwards” from east to west.
