Despite creating a giant rainbow of color that maximizes on the grand space, Buren’s work remains subtle. It was carefully designed and built using minimal materials, but transforms the Palais into a site of hidden pockets and dimensions. By creating a series of secluded spaces within the work, Buren invites curiosity and exploration from the audience.

Celebrating its fifth year, Monumenta has already hosted a range of acclaimed artists, such as last years colossal structure from Anish Kapoor. The installation will be open through June 21.
