Ryerson University [2] recently unveiled the glittering new learning center design envisioned by the dynamic architectural team of Zeidler Partnership Architects [3] and LEED certification [4] by incorporating a host of sustainable building techniques [5]

With help from the government of Ontario’s $45 million investment, Ryerson University sought to create a new learning environment for students that knits Toronto together in an environmentally and socially responsible way. Instead of isolating students in some dark corner of the city, the architects created a welcoming plaza at the entrance of a commercially-active thoroughfare. Still, the interior offers plenty of quiet and introspective spaces in order to facilitate learning.

The building is sheathed in a transparent glass skin [7] that allows light to permeate all eight floors. That matched with sophisticated digital technology makes generating ideas a breeze. Nearly 50% of the roof will be green [8], while the high energy, material, and water efficiency will qualify the learning center for silver LEED certification. Who says learning is boring?
