The Deloitte Centre is the first high rise tower in New Zealand to achieve a 5 Star design rating with the New Zealand Green Building Council (NZGBC). Designed in a joint collaboration between Woods Bagot and Warren and Mahoney, the headquarters of the Bank of New Zealand is part green renovation of a historic Auckland building and part new eco high rise. Making use of advanced building technologies, ventilating facades, energy monitoring and healthy office environments, the Deloitte Centre is one of the premier eco commercial properties in NZ.
This corporate glass monolith is on the corner of my street. It is hideous, and a blight on an already ugly and poorly planned city.
That tan brick building next to it is architecturally superior to the new tower. And far more worthy of my attention. We can be thankful the old buildings were spared the wrecking ball.
