At its core, [Design Science Lab] is a new way of seeing the world – one that takes a global, whole systems perspective that incorporates a well-developed sensibility about social justice and environmental sustainability.

Applications are now being accepted for the 2006 Design Science Lab [2] intensive, run by the Buckminster Fuller Institute [3] and Big Picture Small World [4]. Design Science Lab works with students, design professionals and “ordinary citizens” to develop design approaches for meeting the Millennium Development Goals [5].

Participants, working in teams, develop strategies that demonstrate how the MDGs can be achieved – along with what resources it will take, how much it will cost, and where the money and resources can be obtained.

The application deadline is May 1 for summer 2006 programs in New York and Asheville, NC.
