In order to solve the perceived challenges of wood, such as biodegradability to burnability, FPInnovations — a not-for-profit forest research center — recently launched the Re-Imagining Wood Challenge: an online collaborative event that invites participants from a variety of backgrounds and expertise to re-create sustainable wood products. From January 28 to April 5, 2013, participants embark on a three-phased challenge to develop an innovative wood product that re-imagines how wood might be re-framed as assets to create novel, sustainable products. The resulting concepts will be used to spark further R&D and ultimately, help bring the world closer to a renewable built environment of the future.
