Fresh Wood 2017 is offering high school and post secondary students a chance to earn some serious green in exchange for their skills in woodworking. Open to students enrolled in North American woodworking, design, or related programs, the industry-sponsored competition has six categories: chairs, case goods, tables, “open”, and Special Theme: Lighting and Design for Production. Cash prizes are awarded within each category and at each school level, as well as a People’s Choice award and a Best of Show award. The submission deadline is May 1, 2017.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Schools must complete the registration form https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/AWFS_contest17 and students submit entry photos and answer questions at https://freshwood17.artcall.org/ for preliminary judging. No fee for entry. Finalists will be notified in June 2017 and projects will be shipped to Las Vegas for display and final judging at the AWFSFair. Cost of round trip shipping are covered; student responsible for crate and packing. Finalists may attend the AWFSFair and hotel and travel allowance provided.

JURY

Jury consists of approximately 5 professionals representing different areas within the woodworking and design industries such as education, manufacturing, retail, design and trade press. The same jury will perform preliminary judging based on photos and essays and final judging on-site with actual projects.
