Canadian designer Tat Chao cemented his place as one of the most talented upcycle artists on the lighting scene at Wanted Design 2014. Thanks to his sophisticated touch and eye for detail, the artist gives new life to discarded glassware by repurposing the glass into gorgeous lamps. If you haven't already seen his work, flip through our gallery for a peak. It will definitely brighten your day.
This year, Tat Chao showcased his line, IN VITRO, which represents the “rebirth of the rejected, the out of style, the damaged.”
All of the lamps are made from donated glassware or glass items found in local community-run thrift shops. Working out of his studio in Montreal, Quebec, the artist carefully adheres to the “slow upcycle” method and assembles each lamp by hand using a simple glass binding adhesive.
