Gallery: Designers Come Up with Slightly Absurd Hypothetical Designs fo...

The Treme Authenticity Monument by Kirsten Hively - unlike the other designs - actually lays claim to the derelict home in New Orleans and actually constructs a moment in its honor. A monument of cultural authenticity.

Although these designs were created for specific sites throughout New Orleans, the Hypothetical Development Organization doesn’t really believe that a theater which transports people to another time and space can exist. But from their point of view, limitations, or plausibility, kill creativity. Perhaps the same is true of green design. Why not imagine a world where gardens are free to grow in every which direction, or a tower composed of a series of low-impact sleeping pods? If imagining what is absurd will help us to find real, sustainable solutions, we say let your imaginations run wild!

Residents and visitors to New Orleans can take a peak at these and other renders until May 7th at the Du Mois Gallery.
