We knew it was just a matter of time before the designers that dominate the fashion pages would jump on the eco-bandwagon. Diane von FurstenbergTommy HilfigerRoganLoomstateZero + Maria CornejoLutz & PatmosLoeffler Randall, and Joseph Muteti joined forces with Elle magazine and Sheila Kennedy, the director of the Portable Light Project, to design nine solar purses that supply both light and power. A charitable endeavor, these stylish bags are currently being auctioned off on eBay with proceeds to be reinvested to further Portable Light’s mission of using energy-harvesting textiles to deliver power to developing communities.
