DIY: How to Turn Two Plastic Hangers Into a Cheap and Easy Way to Store Holiday Lights

For years, I’ve been looking for the cheapest and easiest way to take down and store holiday lights. I’ve tried everything from wrapping them on cardboard strips to using those store-bought reels. However, I think I’ve finally hit on a great alternative that reuses common items. All you need is two heavy plastic clothes hangers and two zip ties. Align the two hangers opposite to one another and zip-tie them together at the hooks. By twisting the handles in your hands as you go, it rolls up the lights quickly and easily. It’s simple, easy, and cheap. The bundle of lights seen here has 10 100-light strands on it—just the right weight for the hangers!
