Most people have a flashlight sitting in a drawer somewhere for use in an emergency… but wouldn’t it be cool if it could serve another purpose instead of standing idly by? Well that’s exactly what this transforming flashlight by designer Jia Dai does — it split opens to become a lamp! The only foreseeable problem is that if you’re constantly using it as a lamp, you might find yourself out of juice when you really need it as a flashlight, but the designer thought of that too — since the device is solar-powered , it constantly recharges in the sun.
