Gallery: Imperfect Design’s Beautiful Home Decor Combines Dutch Design ...

Arian Brekveld designed these candle holders for Dutch brand Imperfect Design

From recycled glass vases from Guatemala to skillfully crafted lacquerware trays from Vietnam, the hand of the maker is always visible in the products of Imperfect Design. Dutch designers, such as Arian Brekveld and Van Eijk & Van Der Lubbe have collaborated with craftsmen in developing countries to create contemporary design pieces. Above, face cream jars are transformed into elegant flower vases by Guatemalan glass blowers.

Imperfect Design works to connect Dutch designers to craftsmen in developing countries. In Vietnam, makers have applied 16 layers of lacquer to the wooden trays and tables designed by Arian Brekveld. Glass blowers in Guatemala transformed face cream jars found in the trash into elegant flower vases. Dutch design duo Niels van Eijk and Miriam van der Lubbe worked with the makers on the perfection of color and shape of the products.

Imperfect Design will present its first collection at Milan Design Week 2013 at Ventura Lambrate, Via Privata Oslavia 8, Milan.
