Rotterdam-based designer Rachel Griffin [4]created her multi-functional “Sum of the Parts” furniture collection by questioning why our objects are designed to be static when almost everything else in our lives is dynamic. Her transforming furniture [5] system consists of various interlocking parts that can be playfully mixed and matched according to a user’s particular needs. Made from twelve pine wood parts and a polyurethane foam cushion, the collection is much more than the sum of its parts.
