Artist Patianne Stevenson [2] has finally nailed the recipe for the ultimate all-natural, planet and people-friendly cake. It’s gorgeous, vegan, and virtually free of calories, because, um, it is made of recycled cardboard. She calls her collection The Cardboard Kitchen [3], and it is filled with chocolate icing, tarts, cupcakes, layer cakes, frosting and little lace doilies.

Stevenson uses a combination of non-toxic bookbinders glue and recycled cardboard to create her hand-crafted treats. Her cooking utensils include exacto knives, box cutters, and a variety of bookmaking tools. The artist says the ingredients often dictate the method of preparation, and the result. Never has recycled cardboard looked so delectable.
