The DBA pen is ACMI certified AP Non-toxic. Not only is it lead-free, but further it conforms to the ASTM D 4236 standard of non-toxicity. With respect to biodegradation, the DBA pens have been carefully designed so that they will not begin the process of breaking down until placed in an active microbial environment such as soil or a composting facility.
