We have owned an Ecosmart for 5 years now and love it but the cost of the Methylated spirits is quite high. When we run out and need to run down to the shops it is $5 per litre!!
Would love to hear from anyone who can recommend somewhere to buy in bulk!
Other than that, there is some odour once the flame is extinguished but not much.

Question: Can anyone give me a good sense of the amount of water vapor generated by this ethanol combustion? The reason I ask is because I want to avoid my windows fogging up on cold days. I once had a very old natural gas heater whose doors when left open would release enough water vapor from it's combustion to fog the windows in my living room. Trying to avoid the same calamity with the EcoSmart fireplace water vapor. Thanks for any comments.

[...] Despite Punxsutawney Phil’s prediction of an early spring this year, some of us are still freezing our you-know-whats off (that groundhog is cute, but let’s face it, he’s no meteorologist). So until the temperatures rise, warming your frostbitten fingers by a stylish and eco-friendly fireplace is a good way to go. The go-to company for environmentally-friendly fireplaces seems to be Eco-Smart Fire, which we’ve written about before. Their well-designed modern fireplaces and ranges require no gas hookup and instead rely on clean-burning denatured ethanol. Their systems are also flue-less, which means they can be installed basically anywhere in your home. Another stunning option is Spark’s Fire Ribbon, $3999, a vent-free system that boasts nearly complete fuel combustion, eliminating carbon monoxide and soot. Read on for more compact, eco-friendly fire options… [...]

I am very interested in this product. Is it sold anywhere here in the states in the SW? Does anyone know of any similar products? I love the simplicity of the design and the lack of environmental impact. I have a new contemporary home in AZ and I would like to convert the Kiva to something as efficient and clean as this product.
