Is it 100% green? No, but they did use an existing building and retrofitted it to suit their needs following LEED standards rather than building something new and impacting other areas. They do have wind turbines as well as solar arrays (also shown in the pic) which produce about 25% of their electricity. They are close to mass transit lines including bus routes (I'm not sure about bike/walking routes).

I live in Colorado and have attended one of Ecotech's open houses and feel they have done a nice job and offer many green career paths that you won't find at any other school. They are not 100% sustainable, but I don't think any school, industry, business, whatever is yet. At least they are headed in the right direction in my opinion.

I like reading Inhabitat but get discouraged some times by the comments I read. People are quick to judge and put down new ideas rather than praising for advancements others have made. There is new perfect green bullet out there yet, but progress is being made and I believe Ecotech is will help in the growth of it.

How sustainable could this school be? It's situated in a suburban office park and is surrounded by a giant parking lot. A few wind turbines on an otherwise typical building does not a sustainable building make. Wouldn't a truly sustainable school be located in a building that is easily accessible by foot, bike, and transit? And wouldn't it employ natural daylighting instead of typical fluorescent lighting?
