Cupcakes seem to always be on our minds these days – from cupcake ATMs to delicious vegan pumpkin snacks – but we have to say this mosaic made from 10,000 of the delectable treats really “takes the cake.” The ambitious cherry blossom tree is completely edible, and it was made by the bakers from Crumbs and Doilies. The London cake shop team tiled thousands of colorful cupcakes in the shape of a huge cherry blossom tree for a Japanese TV show.

The installation took place last month for the ITTEQ show with Laura Hadland and the Morisanchu Group and put on display at the Highcross Shopping Centre at Leicester.

It’s a bit late to be one of the lucky passers-by to sample one of the delicious tiles. Given that such a huge quantity could feed an entire village, we just hope that such a vast quantity of cupcakes didn’t go to waste.

The team did a pretty good job of making the edible mosaic look like their muse, a beautiful blossoming cherry tree.
