Diwheels are the amusement park rides of the electric vehicle scene. Traditionally designed with a frame and suspension contained between two wheels, this sweet design has just been taken on a daring turn by a team of students at the University of Adelaide. The new EDWARD electric diwheel can not only balance itself for smooth transport, but it can also take riders on a joy ride flipped upside down!

The students created EDWARD with Active Rotation Damping control. The vehicle works by calculating how to best keep the driver level, whether he is right side up or upside down. With this damping control system and slosh control, EDWARD is able to take a driver from Point A to Point B–or in crazy wheelie circles–up to 25 miles per hour. The cherry on top?
