Gallery: Elding Oscarson’s Trompe L’Oeil Illusions Add Depth to a Strik...

The designers called their work "bold and kaleidoscopic!"

While the interior may seem understated, turning crumbling but cherished buildings into a contemporary workshop was no easy feat. The designers stripped down the former stable to reveal its gaping interior and applied an acoustical treatment to the wall, but the former training hall for troops included a mezzanine that the attending antiquarian insisted should stay. Luckily that was a good thing.

Elding Oscarson was able to work around these constraints by creating a thin, reflecting aluminum mirror that aggrandizes the room and creates more privacy for the customer area. Large windows invite plenty of daylight into the studio, reducing energy consumption. Otherwise, the renovation is defined by a certain chic simplicity that we like a lot.
