A tiny electric Audi A2 with a battery made by DBM Energy recently drove 372 miles from Munich to Berlin without stopping, shattering the world record for EV range. The drivers averaged 52 miles per hour, ran the heat, and still had enough juice left over to offer to charge up journalists’ iPhone batteries when they arrived at the German ministry of the economy Tuesday morning.
Germany, despite its world-class auto industry, has lagged behind Japanese and even (gasp!) American manufacturers in electric vehicle technology. But the government has unveiled new incentives to jumpstart the industry — and it looks like it’s off to a pretty good start!

“TINY”?! What the f, Inhabitat. You’re supposed to be helping, not encouraging everyone into monstertrucks. The number one perception problem that needs addressing in North America is that it’s a-ok to take your living room with you every time you commute. An Audi A2 seats 5 people: that is not tiny. Just because everyone drives a four-meter high SUV in your ‘hood, does not make you the energy-efficiency norm. Given the context, that word has to be the most moronic thing this European has seen written in a long time. Buck up.
