The Renault DeZir is one of the most striking green super cars that we’ve ever seen, and this month it was officially unveiled at the Paris Motor Show. Underneath its fluid lines and aerodynamic chassis, the DeZir boasts a 150 horsepower electric motor, powered by a vertically-mounted 24kw/h lithium-ion battery that is capable of propelling the car from 0 to 60 in 5 seconds. The battery also gives the car a range of 100 miles and its QuickDrop system allows for the super fast changing of batteries so you don’t have to wait to have a charge.
While the 24kWh lithium-ion battery is the same one that powers the Nissan Leaf, the Renault DeZir is set to be a more intense driving experience thanks to the vehicle’s higher torque and power. The body chassis is also made from Kevlar which makes the car lighter than usual and enables the battery to be placed in an optimal position.
In a statement a few months ago, Axel Breun, Renault’s Director of Concept Car and Show Car Design said of the car, “DeZir is a statement of our new formal design language which conveys notions such as movement, sensuality and emotion through ideal proportions, in much the same way as an object whose forms have been honed by nature. The result is a warm, stimulating design that says ‘Renault’.”.
