The Cube is a prefabricated, lightweight, mobile restaurant designed by Park Associati to travel around Europe and sit atop famous buildings with spectacular views. Launched in the spring of 2011, The Cube sat on the arc of the Parc du Cinquantenaire in Brussels until July when it was dismantled and moved to Milan. There it perched up on the roof of the Piazza del Duamo from December to April of 2012. Now it sits in the heart of London on top of the Royal Festival Hall with views of London’s skyline along the river Thames.
Electrolux sponsors this mobile eatery to help promote its own line of lighting, kitchen appliances and other technologies. The traveling project is also designed to showcase local chefs and cuisine. The 40 sq meter mobile restaurant itself features a large dining room with a table that can be raised or lowered to provide space for socializing or for dinner. High performance and lightweight materials make it possible to keep the space comfortable in a variety of climates and the exterior is covered in a white, laser-cut, aluminum skin that works to maximize daylight and views while reducing solar heat gain.
This summer we also see the addition of a twin Cube restaurant in Stockholm that opened earlier this week. The Stockholm Cube will be open through the summer until October and the London Cube will be open until the end of September. Get your reservations now and be sure to tell us about your experience!
