Gallery: EnPieza’s Shimmering Volivik Chandelier is Made From Recycled ...

This unique Volivik chandelier made from used bic pens elevates the common writing utensil into an illuminating work of art. Pieced together by enPieza, a Madrid-based design studio, the sweeping chandelier pays homage to "the movement of Charleston fringe and the rhythm of Baroque patterns." The hanging pen light is also available in a smaller pendant version as well as a table lamp, and all three are available in a range of colors that vary depending on the type of pens used. The chandelier can be constructed from either orange or clear pens, although we much prefer the shining reflections cast by the translucent fixture.

This gorgeous chandelier is made from 347 recycled Bic Pens and paper clips – can you believe it? Who says you need crystal to create a stunning chandelier! Inhabitat first laid eyes on this beauty back in 2007 and we’ve been smitten ever since. Spanish design studio enPieza makes these limited edition Volivik chandeliers – they come in a couple different arrangements and with either orange pens or clear pens. We much prefer the clear pen version as it refracts and reflects light beautifully in traditional sparkly chandelier fashion. Designer Lucas Munoz says he was inspired by “the movement of Charleston fringe and the rhythm of Baroque patterns…the shape of a bulb, [and] the Bic ballpoint pen as an 20th century design.” We couldn’t love this design more. Happily, for any Inhabitat readers who agrees with us, we’ll be giving away this awesome Bic Pen lamp in a few weeks, so stay tuned if you want to win it!
