So this year when I go back to school
Doing everything green is my number one rule.
my green school tip is old school… cut up brown paper grocery bags make for great book covers, just be sure the kids decorate the bag before they put it on the book.
Working in the South Bronx is always a challenge. These school supplies will help me jumpstart my school year. I have already spent so much money on school supplies for my students and this $150.00 in supplies would lighten the burden.

I will: walk whenever possible, use public transportation instead of the car for longer trips whenever possible, recycle or re-purpose old school supplies, always use a re-usable metal water bottle and re-gift the filtered plastic jobber, print everything in duplex mode on recycled/able paper, use the power saving options on all my gadgets, and charge all my awesome stuff with that awesome solar backpack!
Intelligent Design is our future. We are behind the curve, below our potential and need to play catch-up for the sake of Mother Earth. This inhabitat makes me happy.
Going green this year by re using the paper that has only been printed on one side when we are printing out informational pages. Also have totally eradicated bottled waters and juice boxes, as all of our lunch and snack boxes are full of 100% reusable containers. Filtered tap water in reusable water bottles, as well as juice. We also have begun to experiment with re-growing things we may otherwise throw away (bottom of celery bunch or onion, potato bits , etc.
I will be sending my daughter lunch in reusable containers this year to cut down on cafeteria waste and as usual I will be buying post consumer recycled school supplies. My daughter is going into 1st grade in the gifted program and is very environmentally conscious. This would be a great conversation starter for her to encourage her friends to be more eco-friendly.
We shall walk and not squawk.
And put stink in our socks.
Our so stinky feet will cause others to talk .
But at the end of the week the air will be sweet
As we chose not to ride but to walk.
Our city is starting to look smoggy!
To become green

Well, I tried a poem…
But here’s what I’ll do this year:
-Either walk to school or take the bike, depending on how far the school will be
-I will go to the Eco club I know takes place in the school
-Make my own lunch and keep it in boxes and not packaging
-Since I’m in England, I will recycle all of my wastes
-Have a compost
-Make recycled paper like I learned to do last year
-Use none or very little chemical products
-And make my family go green with me!

I am moving in to residence this year, and therefore I have the opportunity to change my ways, and go green. I plan on recycling as much as possible, which means searching my house, 2nd hand stores and more to find things for my room. I am really hoping not to buy anything new! Secondly, I will try to use as much artificial light as possible in my room, and reduce my shower time. I will use eco friendly/ green laundry detergent, and only wash when I have non more clothes to where. With all of this, I am hoping I can get my roommate in as well on trying to go green this year!

We plan on using recyled paper ( and using dry erase boards when possible to prevent the waste of paper) We also use old worksheets & non important papers and cut them up to use as a note pad and recyle everything that can be recyled. We try to teach our kids how to start being more “green” so that thier grandkids can enjoy this beautiful earth!

this is a very exciting contest,i am actually a HUGE fan of INHABITAT. i am a inspires all the time in everything i see and read. BUT winning a \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\’ NAKED BINDER \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\” for my sons will get me a little more cred when i am excited by something i see on INHABITAT and i want them to come see and read. (it is an education about the world ….. people are so creative) i have one one who is a freshman at MARYLAND a VERY green university AND one who is a junior in high school is also a great thing as well

My 14 year old son Jack, attends a charter school called Rainshadow. The curriculum centers around an environmental theme, particularly regarding our beautiful Truckee River, which winds through the city. The kids are taught to revere and respect the river through programs to tend to the river and spread the word of their environmental cause. This eco-friendly school is something that WE as a family support and are so grateful to be a part of. I think considering that Jack attends this school and as a young environmentalist that it would only be appropriate that his school supplies are helping to set the tone of their mission as a community and further his support in his own mind and behavior. Not to mention how cool he would look sporting there eco conscious products…we all know the importance of the coolness factor at this tender age. The science building at school where I take most of my classes is LEED certified. This means the green school supplies can be friends with the building. ^_^

This year I tried my best to share my love about how much I love this little planet…I always try to make people understand that if the Green life dies,we’ll die too..but seems like they never understand but I won’t give up.
I already talked with a few friends and we’re pretty excited about making some events about recycling stuff and growing plants and stuff like that. ^^ Hopefully people will come and share the love for our planet aswell.

Clean air, I like the way it feels
So I’ll do my part and recycle
A car’s too much, I don’t even need two wheels
I’ll carry everything on my nifty little unicycle
I’ve got an Ecosystem notebook and a cool Naked binder
All tucked nicely into my awesome instinctive bag
This way I can repay my earth and be a little kinder
And offset the CO2 emission by that old smoking hag
Each day we ditch the car and walk so we can save some gas
I bought recycled paper too for the notes we take in class
We pack a lunch in our green lunchbox and baggies we reuse
We even stopped buying drinks, we pack a thermos of juice
green back ti school: reuse paper for my notes, do not use my car and moving on bycicle.
Being a kangaroo, packing my bag with all green grass for the loved ones.
