Are you a designer, architect or creative who finds inspiration in photography? If so, you’ll want to check out Philips’ new free LightCollector photo app to collect photographic inspiration from the world around you. Available for both Apple and Android mobile devices, LightCollector is a free mobile photography app that provides creative folks with a platform to collect, curate and share inspirational images from their mobile phones, and work with a global online network of peers, colleagues, experts and influencers. To get your creative juices flowing, we’ve teamed up with Philips and Light Collective to host a fantastic new photography contest that invites you to upload your best light-inspired photos for a chance to win a sweet $1000 cash prize! You’ve only got until Friday, February 15th (that’s in a week!) to submit your photos, after which we’ll be putting them up to a public vote to determine the most provocative, beautiful and inspiring. The top 20 entries with the most votes will be included in a final round of judging by a panel made up of Inhabitat editors and industry professionals. HOW TO ENTER THE CONTEST
STEP 1: Download the free LightCollector app onto your mobile device (Android users here, Apple users here). You will need to register for an account in order to properly tag your images so we can see them and count you in the contest.

. . STEP 2: Upload your photos using LightCollector on your mobile device. Note the location each photo was taken (photos without a location designated will not be published) and tag the photo with #INHABITAT. Be sure after tagging you press your Done key (on an iPhone) or your Enter key (on an Android), so that your tag will appear.
. STEP 3: Be sure to tell your friends and family to vote on your images. The 20 images with the most votes will make it into our final round of judging and have a shot at the $1000 GRAND PRIZE.
. *IMPORTANT: You must follow each of these steps to be considered for the $1000 prize. Entries that do not meet these submission requirements will not be considered! Please be warned that sometimes photos take a few hours to appear on the website and app, and that multiple attempts may be necessary. . The deadline to submit your photos is Friday, February 15th.
PHILIPS LIGHT COLLECTOR
Lighting consultancy Light Collective and Philips recently launched the cool new app that allows users to upload, tag and share images of lighting to create an extensive crowd-sourced photo library of inspiration. The creative app, dubbed LightCollector, was first designed as a tool to support the design community but is now charming users from all fields. Designed for both Apple and Android platforms, anyone can download the app for free.
COMPETITION JUDGES
Jill Fehrenbacher – Designer, Founder and Editor-in-Chief at Inhabitat
Jill is the founder of Inhabitat, as well as a LEED-AP green designer and green design consultant based in New York City. She created Inhabitat in the spring of 2005 as a way to catalog her search for new ways to improve the world through forward-thinking, high-tech and environmentally conscious design.
Lea Stewart – Product Designer
Lea is a Chicago-based designer and an Inhabitat contributor. She has been published in the Eco Design Handbook and her work is also a part of the permanent collection of the Huxley College of the Environment at West Washington University. Her diverse career has focused on creating efficient, sustainable and user-centered lighting, consumer products, furniture and a range of other products.
Reed is a New York-based photographer. In 2010 he was selected as one of Photo District News’ 30 up and coming photographers. His work has been featured in TIME Magazine, The Guardian, New York Magazine and numerous other publications
