Gallery: EXCLUSIVE PICS: Grand Daddyâ€...

Notice the view!

Even on a sunny day, even though it’s fairly high up, the Grand Daddy trailer park hotel is very comfortable thanks to plenty of shade and green space, which keeps air quality high despite pollution issuing from the busy street below. Even with Table Mountain and various office and residential buildings in view, this space feels eerily like a bonafide American trailer park. The Airstreams even have Florida license plates!

At least one of the themes betrays our real location in the heart of South Africa’s most vibrant city, such as The Afro-Funk room and Love of Lace. The other 5 rooms are called Dorothy, The Ballad of John & Yoko, Earthcote Moontides, Goldilocks & the 3 Bears, and Pleasantville! Originally built in 1895 and called The Metropole, this gorgeous hotel has had many reincarnations, but we’re sold on the most recent. Rooms cost $180 per night.
