No need to argue. This is a great page, and we had a great day there (first for us) today. We had a \"Staycation\", can\'t afford a vacation. :) Wonderful idea, great day today enjoying this event. Reminds you how fun NYC can be and is. :) Nice people all over the place today...loved it. Great for handicapped too. :)

You don't want to be a Grinch? You are being a troll. The NYTimes story clearly states that the dumpster pools are being donated and will not cost the city a dime. Where do you get the idea that city money is being diverted to the summer streets?

Dont get me wrong I think this is clever and fun for a very hot city but.... the city has closed a few city pools this summer one of the hottest since record keeping yet there is funding for this 8 foot long pool near Park avenue. Now it doesnt seem much the pools are 8 feet, not a big size and there are only 3 of them but if you take into account the man power and machine power and designing that adds up to quite a sum, a sum that could go to promoting a city pool to stay open, a city pool that can take more swimmers. Three weeks may not seem so long but in a climate of 90 to 100 degree heat daily it can and is long.

I dont want to be the Grinch that stole Summer but even opening one of the closed public pools would have accommodated ten fold the amount of children, adults and seniors that may be able to take advantage of these three 8 foot pools even if they will be around for three weeks.
