John Lautner’s Silvertop House in Silver Lake, Los Angeles, recognizable as the setting for several music videos, commercials and the 1980’s movie Less than Zero, has been put on the market for the first time in 40 years. The gorgeous residence sitting on the crest of a hill, which sports a fantastic view of its surroundings from a spacious living room, is to be sold for the cool sum of $7.5 million.

The house was designed in 1956 as one of Lautner’s first residential projects. It broke ground in the late 1950s but remained unfinished for some time. The original owners, Philip and Jacklyn Burchill, who bought the home in 1974, worked together with the architect to complete it and finally moved in two years later. Several years after her husband’s death, Mrs. Burchill decided to move to Northern California and has put the house for sale.
