Gallery: Fascinating Sculptures Made from Recycled Typewriter Parts

Despite his less than high-tech method of assembly, each piece is made with incredible precision.

Surprisingly, Mayer does not solder, glue, weld, or use other chemical bonds to create these metal sculptures – all of the joinery is done through “cold assembly.” Certainly imaginative, his works have grown out of his childhood fascination with typewriters, where he found himself breaking apart the machines for more than ten years. A beautiful, curious and certainly a fascinating use of materials, his sculptures also represent a fun way to revive old technology.
