When it comes to the ultimate design trifecta of beauty, functionality and sustainability, this elegant LED wall sconce from Koncept Lighting is all gravy, baby. Exhibited at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair during NYCxDesign week, the energy-efficient Gravy wall sconce attracted us to the Koncept booth with its fun, flippable form factor, and impressed us with thoughtful features like touch-controlled dimming and a 360-degree swivel neck that allows you to control the direction of light as needed.
When you first encounter the Gravy wall sconce, you might not even fully understand what it is. Designed by Kenneth Ng and Edmund Ng, the slim light looks like a makeup compact that’s been hung on the wall. The unexpected design allows you to flip the LED half of the clamshell up and down 120 degrees, and swivel it 360 degrees depending on where you need light. You can also dim and brighten the light by touching and holding it. The sconce is available in a rainbow of colors and cool finishes like chrome, oiled Walnut and felt.
The Gravy is a 2015 Spark Awards Gold Winner and won an iF Design Award in 2016.
In addition to its highly usable design, the Gravy boasts a mercury-free LED bulb with a low power consumption of 5.5 watts and a 50,000-hour lifespan. The energy-efficient light also qualifies for LEED credit eligibility.
The Gravy wall sconce is available in both plug-in ($180) and hardwired ($225) versions.
