Ford Announces That Its Evos Plug-in Hybrid Will Make Its U.S. Debut in January

We showed you pictures of the lovely Ford EVOS ^[6] plug-in hybrid gullwing concept before, and now we get to tell you the good news: the EVOS is quickly becoming a reality, making its U.S. debut in January. The vehicle was just unveiled at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show ^[7] and will come stateside to the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in 2 months with a lithium ion battery pack and plug-in hybrid drivetrain. Ford designer J Mays described the looks of the EVOS as intended "not to provoke, but to seduce." Well, mission accomplished. We thought it would take at least a few more years for an automaker to come up with a vehicle anywhere near as beautiful as the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione ^[8] but starring a green powertrain, but here it is.

The focus of the EVOS is actually on technology more than its eco-friendly credentials. The car allegedly adjusts its driving style based on driver profile, map, and weather data pulled from the cloud ^[9]. It also reads your text messages aloud as they come in. These geeky features are the reason why Ford will make the EVOS its main offering at the 2012 International Consumer Electronics Show in January. We have our fingers crossed that positive feedback will encourage Ford to put the EVOS into production soon after.
