jeperry is spot on: a 4 ADULT passenger plug-in hybrid at minimum cost is the key to capturing the bulk of the US market and for export. I don't need or want the electronic gingerbread. I can avoid other cars; I can park a car; and I can buy a GPS for $100. Unbundle the hi-tech and offer options for those who want to pay for them.

When will Ford release performance data and let us get in line for delivery? Are they going to offer only the hi-$ models first, as Tesla is doing for the S?

A $1500 GPS is not needed by most people in an EV. The EV that will sell should be extremely basic, allowing for a lower price.
The Sr. market requires a car for trips to the supermarket, doctors appointments etc. Living on SS only, I can't afford a $30-40k car; but would like an EV, 4 passenger that is easy to get in and out of.
