If you’re a city dweller who likes a little bit of outdoorsy kitsch in your home, then the Lightstarter is a fun little gadget that will shine a light on your campy and ironic wit. Designed by Michael Kritzer for Simple Artifact, this little lamp takes inspiration from the days our ancestors rubbed two twigs to make fire. However, all you need to get the Lightstarter going is one stick and whole lot of hand-kindling power. One second of kindling time is equal to 10 seconds of light, a 3 second kindle gives way to 30 seconds of light, 35 seconds will give you a minute of light, and so on.

Fun article! Small typo: “35 seconds will give you a minute of light” should be “5 seconds”.
Cheers!
