Fuseproject and One Laptop Per Child Unveil $75 Tablet PC for Kids!

One Laptop Per Child [5] and legendary designer Yves Behar [6] have just unveiled the XO-3, an affordable next-gen tablet pc for kids! The third generation OLPC is made completely from plastic and is semi-flexible to make it more durable for children’s rough & tumble lives. Yves Behar’s Fuseproject [7] is currently working on the design and hopes to have these devices ready to ship by 2012 for the incredibly affordable price of $75 each.

Fuse Project’s new XO-3 has a semi-flexible screen that features both transmissive and reflective modes for use indoors and outdoors. The XO-3 will also have a horizontal and vertical reading mode, a full-touch keyboard, games that multiple users can play, and even a camera. Seems like a device any child in the world would love to play with.

The One Laptop Per Child program, started by Nicholas Negroponte [9], is still in full swing and over one million laptops [10] have been distributed to children around the world. In fact in Uruguay, every public school child between the ages of 6 and 12 has one. Fuseproject hopes that their third generation device will be a handy tool to help children learn and grow.
